Humic Substances
What are Humic Substances?
“Humic substances” is a generic term referencing all natural organic matter found in nature outside the living cell, including humus and humate material.
Humic substances are found everywhere in nature, arising from the chemical and biological degradation of plant and animals. They are found in soils, sediments, coals, fresh and salt waters, and other natural materials.

Our granular humates are from buried ancient lakes that existed 80 million years ago in the Fruitland Formations of the wildness of the United States. They are mined raw and processed on site without adding any chemicals and thus are considered by the USDA National Organic Food Program as completely organic. They are graded on the basis of humic acid content and particle size to provide consistent results when used in organic or sustainable agriculture. The table below indicates the various grades of humates we supply in pallets and truckloads:
